Arsenal should tremble with fear! City crush Chelsea to revive their title hopes
Reading Time: 4min | Sun. 12.04.26. | 20:28
Pep Guardiola's men scored all their goals after the break and continued putting pressure on the Gunners ahead of their clash next Sunday - 3-0
Uncertainty is definitely back in the Premier League title race!
Arsenal’s shocking home defeat to Bournemouth yesterday indicated it, though the Gunners hoped their city rivals, Chelsea, would come to the rescue and potentially trip Manchester City at Stamford Bridge today.
During the first half, Liam Rosenior’s lads seemed capable of spoiling the Cityzens’ plans, but the second period precisely depicted Pep Guardiola’s team’s strength, as the visitors closed the gap behind Arsenal to six points, with a game in hand.
Today, in London, the defenders were City’s heroes, as Nico O’Reilly and Marc Guehi organized a six-minute blitzkrieg, bringing a vital lead to their club between the 51st and 57th minutes.
In the 68th minute, Jeremy Doku exploited Moises Caicedo’s colossal blunder to score the third goal for the Cityzens and put the cherry on top of their triumph.
In the next round, the two top EPL sides face each other in a blockbuster clash that could definitely decide the winner of the title race. Fireworks are upon us!

During the opening 20 minutes of the game, City had possession, but Chelsea were far more dangerous.
In the 16th minute, Marc Cucurella found the net, but his goal was ruled out for a close-call offside. Three minutes later, Gianluigi Donnarumma came to the visitors' rescue, stopping Pedro Neto's promising strike.

Only after 33 minutes did the Cityzens manage to threaten Robert Sanchez, as the Spaniard superbly stopped Bernardo Silva's close-range effort. The Portuguese made another decent strike shortly after, while the final minutes before the break brought one solid chance on each side.
Antoine Semenyo was close to breaking the deadlock, shooting from a distance, whereas Andrey Santos headed the ball far over the bar, despite being all alone in City's area.
The second half began with two massive chances for the visitors. Jorrel Hato blocked Erling Haaland's dangerous effort in the critical moment, while Rayan Cherki's shot went narrowly wide of Sanchez's right post.
The change in the Cityzens' energy after the break was evident, and once it happens, it's only a matter of time before it brings goals. Tonight at Stamford Bridge, it took the visitors only six minutes to break the deadlock. Cherki crossed an ideal ball into Chelsea's box from the right flank, and Nico O'Reilly headed it into the net after outsmarting Santos.
Six minutes later, it was already 2-0! And again, one of the Manchester side's defenders netted - this time it was Marc Guehi. The England international exploited another Cherki's perfect pass, avoided the Blues' offside trap, and doubled his team's lead with a ruthless "striker-like" finish.
The Cityzens' fans didn't have to wait long for another goal in Chelsea's net. In the 68th minute, Moises Caicedo made a massive blunder, allowing Jeremy Doku to face Sanchez one-on-one, and the Belgian didn't waste a chance to put his name on the scoresheet and increase his team's lead to 3-0.
At that point, the game was over for Chelsea. Truth be told, they had two chances to score at least a consolation goal, but Donnarumma stopped Cucurella and Cole Palmer's attempts in the last 10 minutes.
City did what they needed to do, putting additional pressure on Arsenal's back. Next week's meeting between the two table-toppers may provide numerous answers regarding the future champion.
