Another FKF Premier League side heads to Tanzania for pre-season

FKF Premier League newcomers APS Bomet have confirmed that they will be heading to Tanzania for a pre-season training camp as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The Bomet-based outfit, gearing up for their maiden season in the top flight, will play a friendly match against Coastal Union FC on Sunday, 14 September.

The decision to cross the border underscores a growing trend among Kenyan clubs opting for Tanzania as a preferred pre-season destination.

APS Bomet becomes the fourth FKF-PL side to stage part of their preparations in Tanzania this month.

Record champions Gor Mahia featured in Wednesday’s Simba Day celebrations, where they went down 2-0 to Simba SC, while KCB are already pitched camp in Arusha.

The Bankers edged Tanzania Prisons 2-1 in a friendly. Meanwhile, Bandari FC are scheduled to test themselves against Tanzanian champions Yanga SC on Yanga Day at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Friday, 12 September.

Ahead of their trip, APS Bomet unveiled a 25-man squad alongside an eight-member technical bench for the four-day camp.

The squad features a blend of retained players and newly acquired signings.

Notable new arrivals include; Brian Bulleti, Evans Maliachi, Sosthenes Idha, Rodgers Kipkemoi, Sven Yidah, Aziz Okaka, and Alex Keke, all of whom are expected to inject fresh energy and competition within the squad thanks to their top-flight experince.

The squad will be under the stewardship of head coach Michael Nam, assisted by Evans Mafuta, with Darshan Lubembe serving as team manager.

Fredrick Onyango will oversee the goalkeeping department, Alfred Chole will be tasked with ensuring the players are fit, while physiotherapist Ayub Said and media officer Bethuel Kipkorir complete the backroom team.

The traveling delegation will be led by the club’s CEO, Chief Inspector Rose Chemutai, reflecting the strong administrative backing behind the team.

Newly-appointed vice chairman Vuldan Kibet officially flagged off the squad early Thursday morning, marking the start of what the club hopes will be a fruitful camp abroad.
