Ronaldo wants another Portuguese teammate in his ranks

After managing to shock both the European and Arab football scenes with the lightning-fast signing of Joao Felix, Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus is now raising the bar even higher. His new target is Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. According to information reported by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Jorge Jesus and Al Nassr have already initiated contact with the aim of bringing another key player of the Portuguese national team into their ranks. A transfer that would unite Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix, and Cristiano Ronaldo at the same club sounds like a video game fantasy—but in Saudi Arabia, nothing seems impossible anymore.

Finances? Not a problem. Al Hilal recently offered Bruno Fernandes a staggering 70 million euros per season over five years, along with 120 million to Manchester United, but the Red Devils' midfielder rejected the offer at the time. What could change now? First – the coach. Jorge Jesus is no stranger to Bruno Fernandes. It was Jesus who elevated him to a key player role at Sporting during the 2017/18 season. Their collaboration was fruitful, and their mutual respect is unquestionable. Second – the leader. Fernandes' friend and national team captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, is already a cornerstone of Al Nassr. Third – ambition. The Saudis have made it clear they want to build the strongest team outside of Europe, and the combination of Jorge Jesus + Cristiano Ronaldo + Bruno Fernandes + Joao Felix would be a clear sign that this ambition is becoming reality.

A Bola reports that the first conversations have already taken place—between the player and the club, a natural first step before involving Manchester United. If Bruno shows openness to the idea, Al Nassr will proceed with a formal offer to the English giant. In the meantime, a reaction is expected from Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s new manager, who will certainly want to keep hold of his captain.

What’s certain is that the coming days will be crucial. If the transfer goes through, it would be one of the biggest blows from Arab football to the European elite—not just financially, but because it would bring another global football leader to the desert. Bruno is 29, playing at the peak of his career, and unlike many who move at the twilight of theirs, he would represent a transfer to Saudi Arabia at the height of his powers. While everything is still at the level of initial talks, in a world that changes by the hour—especially when it comes to Saudi clubs and their willingness to spend—one thing is certain: when the old fox Jorge Jesus truly wants something, it rarely slips away.
