It's a relief for coach Tom Juma who will now have a strong squad for the 2023-24 season
AFC Leopards will have 19 new players on their roster following the lifting of their transfer ban by FIFA on Monday.
Ingwe had been under sanctions for over a year now, first for failing to pay their former players, and the most recent one was a dispute between the club and their former head coach, Patrick Aussems. The two parties, however, reached an agreement on Saturday to strike a payment plan.
FIFA was informed of the same, and on Monday they lifted Ingwe’s ban, allowing them to register the players that they had earmarked for signing and who have been training with the squad awaiting clearance by FIFA.
The club will sign 14 new players this window and register a further five that have been with the rest of the squad for the last year.
Among the 14 are three players who have previously played for Ingwe. The three are Clifton Miheso from Kenya Police FC, Kevin Kimani, who has been unattached, and Aziz Okaka, who has been out of competitive football for one season.
Ingwe have also raided cash-strapped Nzoia Sugar FC and are set to recruit six of their players. The six are keeper Humphrey Katasi, defenders Vincent Mahiga and Randi Bakari, midfielder Boniface Munyendo, winger Hassan Beja, and striker Yassin Sije.
Others are Former Mwatate United defender Brian Mandela, former Sofapaka and Wazito FC midfielder Shawn Oloo, former Mathare United defender Gideon Were, and former FC Talanta striker Brian Yakhama.
The club will also register five players who have trained with the team for over a year but were unregistered due to the ban. The five are defenders Emmanuel Lwanga and Lauren James, keeper Abubakar Musha, and forwards Victor Otieno and Ronald Sichenje.
