Yavi recently made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the women’s 3000m steeplechase and breaking the Olympic record that had stood since 2008. This victory not only earned her a gold medal but also showed that she is one of the best in the world.

As of October 2024, she was ranked number one in the world in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, according to World Athletics.

In addition to her Olympics success, Yavi won a gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, becoming the first athlete from Bahrain to win a steeplechase medal at the World Championships.

Yavi has also won three gold medals at the Asian Games, proving her talent on many stages.

Although born in Kenya, Yavi started running for Bahrain in 2016 and has since then risen to the top of her sport and continues to shine.

Yavi’s 2024 season has been nothing short of stellar.

During the Brussels Diamond League, she clocked 9:02.87 to finish second, just behind Faith Cherotich, while Peruth Chemutai, a former Olympic champion, finished third.

Despite a late start to the season, Yavi quickly regained her stride, finishing ninth at the Prefontaine Classic before storming to victory at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris.

By the time the Olympics kicked off, Yavi was in peak form, showcasing her class.

Despite not being included in the World Athletics Athlete of the Year nominees, Yavi has had an amazing season so far.
