The winger also revealed his memorable moments during his career.
Following a glittering 13-years of service to Kenya 7s, Shujaa winger Willy Ambaka called time on his illustrious sevens career on Thursday 26 January but revealed a day later that his tired legs motivated his decision.
In a lengthy heartfelt letter that announced his retirement, Ambaka just fell short of revealing his reason for retirement despite only being 32 years of age.
In his final leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series that is currently ongoing in Sydney, Australia, Ambaka revealed that his weary body informed his decision to retire.
“It's been a long journey for me, I feel that the body is already burning up but at the same time it has been a memorable 13 years and I'm happy with everything.
We have a good bunch of boys that are here but all in all I just want to thank God and appreciate what World Rugby has done,” said Ambaka in an interview with World Rugby.
Ambaka will leave a massive hole in the Shujaa squad that is currently languishing at the wrong end of the table as they hover perilously close to the automatic relegation place.
The burly winger, who was part of the squad that delivered a maiden leg win in the series, revealed that the Singapore title was among his two memorable highlights during his career.
“There are so many highlights but for me from High School till now my first highlight was being called up to the National Team and of course the big one which is the 2016 win in Singapore versus Fiji.
All in all every moment has been memorable and I really thank God for that,” said the former Narvskaya Zastava player.
