The Bulls had just concluded their KRU Championship fixture against Mean Machine, which they lost 18-9, before their bus was involved in an accident at Timboroa.
In an official statement released by the club, chairman Mike Ligono assured fans, partners, and stakeholders that all 22 players on board escaped serious harm.
“The management of Western Bulls would like to inform our fans, partners, and stakeholders that all 22 players are safe following a road accident at Timboroa while travelling back to Kakamega from our KRU Championship fixture against Mean Machine in Nairobi,” read part of the statement.
According to the club, two players sustained minor injuries and are set to undergo precautionary scans upon arrival in Kakamega. No serious injuries were reported.
“We are grateful that no serious injuries were reported. We thank God for His protection and appreciate the concern and support shown by our fans and the rugby fraternity during this time. Further updates will be communicated in due course,” the statement added.
The incident comes at a difficult time for the Bulls, who are currently at the bottom of the KRU Championship log with five points, having registered two wins, one draw, and five losses so far this season.
Despite the challenging campaign, the club will be relieved that the accident did not result in major injuries as they shift focus back to their survival battle in the league.
