Kenya started her campaign with a massive win over Nigeria
Kenya 7s national team; Shujaa's results in the ongoing Africa Men’s 7s tournament in Harare, Zimbabwe have shown that they are in a serious hunt for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The gusty Shujaa picked up from where they left off in their game against Nigeria to stun Namibia 51-0 in their second pool match. Unlike their opening match, Shujaa were faster in rucks and kickoffs.
The Kenyans who were in sleek form opened the scoresheets through a five-pointer by Daystar Falcon’s speedster Patrick Odongo.
Vincent Onyala then scored the second try for Shujaa that capped his hat trick in the ongoing tournament to see the scores climb to 12-0.
Namibia attempted a comeback but they failed to go past the determined Kenyans who mounted a rock-solid defence throughout.
Kenya was dominating in the scrums and breakdowns. A series of passes saw the ball land on Kevin Wekesa’s hands and he did not hesitate to bag the five points.
Onyala was on the scoresheets again, this time with a try that led to a disappointed look from the Namibian bench to see the scores at 24-0.
In the final half, Kevin Wambua’s charges added a series of unanswered tries through John Okoth, Kevin Wekesa, and George Ooro that put the final nail on Namibia’s coffin.
Kenya was coming from a 34-10 win over Nigeria in their opening pool match. They will be seeking to maintain the fine form when they tackle Zambia later in the day (1634hrs).
