The men’s national rugby sevens side Shujaa will on Saturday face Scotland in their first match of Day 2 in the ongoing 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens taking place in Cape Town, South Africa as they hope for the best possible finish in the tournament after dropping to the Challenge Trophy.

The Damian McGrath currently coached side kicked off their campaign with a convincing 19-0 pre-round of 16 win over Tonga on Day 1 courtesy of tries from Willy Ambaka, Vincent Onyala and skipper Nelson Oyoo but were stopped in their tracks in the Round of 16 match against powerhouse Argentina who sent them packing from main cup contention following the 22-7 defeat on Friday evening.

With the format of the tournament being straight knockout, Shujaa then dropped to the Challenge Trophy determining positions from 9th -16th place.

Scotland found themselves paired against Kenya after suffering a heavy 43-5 defeat against defending champions New Zealand in the Round of 16.

Shujaa face Scotland in their Challenge Trophy quarter final clash at 1337EAT.

A win will secure them a semifinal clash against winner between England/Chile at 1859EAT.

Shujaa showed glimpses of their continued improvement in the first game against Tonga but the all familiar indiscipline cost the team against Argentina as they were shown two yellow cards in the game.

Should they win against Scotland, Shujaa will face the winner between England and Chile in the Challenge semifinals at 1859EAT.

A defeat will also see them face the loser from the two at 1753EAT.
