The Dala 7s is the first of the six legged 2023 National Sevens Circuit.

A great lineup of matches is expected at the 2023 season opening leg of the 2023 National Sevens Circuit as the remaining eight teams battle for the Dala 7s main cup honours at the Jomo Kenyatta international stadium.

Nakuru RFC vs Kenya Harlequins

Nakuru RFC booked a slot in the quarterfinals after managing two wins over Catholic Monks (19-7) and town rivals Menengai Oilers (12-7). The Kennedy Njoroge-coached side started the day by sharing 14-14 spoils with Nondies RFC.

They will however be up against a strong contingent of Kenya Harlequins who are showing no signs of slowing down. Quins won their opening matches against Mombasa RFC (17-5) and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) 21-17. They would however lose narrowly to KCB Rugby 12-7.

Mwamba RFC vs Kabras Sugar

Mwamba RFC reached the quarterfinals after a spirited performance that saw them manage 3/3 straight wins. Kulabu started their Dala 7s campaign on a high, edging out Makueni RFC 12-10 before hitting Western Bulls 12-7. They would later defeat long-time rivals Mwamba RFC 20-7 to proceed to the cup quarters.

Kabras RFC on the other hand registered a series of mixed results on day one of Dala 7s. The Sugarmen defeated Daystar University (21-19), before going on to defeat hosts Kisumu RFC (27-5). They would later lose to Strathmore Leos (20-7) in their last match of the day. The side which is now under the tutelage of former Kenya 7s international Felix Ayange will be looking to glow in the shorter version of the day.

Strathmore Leos vs Homeboyz

On-form Embu 7s defending champions Strathmore Leos kept their fine form going to win all their day one matches. They won 20-7 against Kabras RFC before going on to defeat Daystar Falcons 22-7 Daystar Falcons. They also defeated hosts Kisumu RFC 17-5.

Homeboyz RFC too were keen to stage a repeat of the 2022 Dala 7s where they were crowned champions. The Deejayz started off their campaign with a 12-10 win over Makueni RFC before registering a 36-12 win over Western Bulls before falling 20-7 to Mwamba RFC.

KCB Rugby vs Menengai Oilers

This highly-anticipated match is expected to glue fans to the pitch. KCB Rugby won all their pool matches against Kenya Harlequins (12-7), MMUST Rugby (22-7), and Mombasa RFC (36-0).

They will meet wounded Oilers who are looking to revenge from their last 12-7 loss of the day against Nakuru RFC. Oilers had defeated Catholic Monks (19-7) before defeating Nondies 22-7.
