KCB Rugby’s speedster Floyd Wabwire was the standout performer in the final, producing a brilliant second-half display to score both tries that sealed the win for the Morans.
The first half had been a tight affair with both sides showing strong defensive organisation, but Wabwire’s pace and precision in attack broke the deadlock after the break.
The triumph over Zimbabwe marked the third consecutive win for the Morans against the Cheetahs in just over a month.
During last month’s Safari 7s, Morans beat Zimbabwe twice, 27-7 in the pool stage and 19-12 in the third-place playoff.
The victory in the final followed an extraordinary campaign where Morans overwhelmed every opponent.
They began their run with a 36-0 thumping of Old Hararians and followed it up with a 41-0 demolition of Pitbulls.
In the knockout rounds, they dispatched Old Miltonians 48-0 in the quarterfinals before inflicting a staggering 61-0 defeat on Old Georgians in the semifinals.
With such commanding performances, head coach Kevin Wambua will take confidence in the depth and talent emerging within Kenya’s Sevens setup as the national team gears up for a busy 2025 calendar.
Kabras RFC's youngster Rayvon Ambale was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
