The senior team renew their rivalry with arch-rivals Uganda Lady Cranes in their next match

Kenya Lionesses kicked off their title defense on a high, with a 50-0 win over TUKS Women in the muddy women's category match played at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

The Lionesses showcased resilience and organized play, which gave them an upper hand against their opponents. The side was coming from an 87-3 win over Uganda Lady Cranes in the Elgon Cup match played at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium on Saturday 11.

They were also enjoying a wealth of experience having graced the WXV3 tournament and the Africa Women's 7s tournament where they finished second.

The ladies are also under the tutelage of former Kenya 7s tacticians Paul Murunga and Dennis Mwanja.

The fierce ladies were off the mark quickly and were trailing at 5-0 in the first 30 seconds.

Ann Goretti was sure with the conversion to see the scores rise to 7-0.

Naomi Amuguni would then register her name on the scoresheet with a five-pointer that was converted by WXV3 player of the match Goretti to blow the scores to 14-0.

Goretti then caught the TUKS defense napping, and she did not hesitate to add more points under her name. The Lionesses added two more converted tries to see the scores at 33-0 at halftime.

In the closing half, the Kenyans scored 17 more points to hit the half-century mark. Despite making a ring of changes, TUKS ladies failed to score in the match.

TUKS will have a chance to bounce back when they square off with Cubs; a Lionesses team.

The Lionesses on the other hand will be oozing with confidence as they renew their rivalry with arch-rivals Uganda Lady Cranes in their next match.

The match will be a repeat of the 2021 Safari 7s final where Kenya Lionesses whitewashed Uganda Lady Cranes 26-0 to win the women's category. It will also transport the fans back to the Africa Women's 7s semifinal match played on October 15 where the hard-hitting Kenyans humbled Uganda 27-0 to proceed to the finals.
