With regional bragging rights and a chance to finish strong on the line, the Lionesses roared with authority, running in a flurry of tries to register their second win in the competition, and end their stay on the island on a high.

The Kenyan side came into the clash determined to bounce back from their 19-12 loss to South Africa in their second match, having opened their campaign with a convincing 28-5 win over hosts Madagascar.

The team clearly picked lessons from their previous outings, showing improvement in coordination, set pieces, and discipline.

Their forward pack was particularly dominant, setting the tempo and controlling the scrums and lineouts with clinical precision.

The synergy across departments was evident as the Lionesses combined grit and flair to dismantle the Ugandan defence.

Kenya opened the scoring through Natasha Emali, although the conversion went wide.

Tries from Sheila Chajira and Faith Livoi followed, both unconverted, before Noleen Khaleyi dived over to cap a dominant first half. At the break, Kenya led 20-0.

The Lionesses resumed the second half with even more intensity. A penalty try was awarded after consistent infringements by the Lady Cranes.

Naomi Amuguni added to the scoreboard after spotting a defensive gap, although her effort went unconverted.

A stunning passage of team play saw Grace Adhiambo link up with Moreen Muritu and Edith Nariaka, resulting in another try, this time converted by Adhiambo, Kenya’s first successful conversion of the day.

Building on their momentum, the Lionesses again utilized a powerful scrum to set up Amuguni, who laid off to Stellah Wafula for her first of two tries.

Although Adhiambo missed the conversion, the forwards remained relentless, drawing comparisons from commentators to the Springboks’ famed maul tactics, though on this occasion it did not lead to points.

Uganda attempted to claw their way back but were thoroughly contained by the relentless Lionesses defence.

In a final act of defiance, the Lady Cranes kicked the ball into touch to prevent Kenya from surpassing the 50-point mark, drawing the curtain on a one-sided affair.

The Lionesses now await the outcome of the final fixture between South Africa and Madagascar.

However, with the Boks unbeaten so far in the tournament, the odds remain stacked against a Kenyan leapfrog.
