The victory marked sweet revenge for the Kenyans, who had suffered a heartbreaking 16-15 defeat in the first leg, a result that not only handed Uganda the advantage but also brought Kenya's six-match winning streak to an end.

Needing a win away from home, Kenya started brightly and took control of the contest from the outset.

Former Kenya Sevens speedster Collins Injera crossed for the opening try after breaking through Uganda's defense, although Darwin Mukidza failed to add the conversion as Kenya settled for a 5-0 lead.

Uganda had chances to respond but were let down by their kicking. Ivan Kirabo missed a penalty in the 10th minute before Mukidza also failed to extend Kenya's lead with a missed penalty midway through the opening half.

The home side eventually got on the scoreboard in the 27th minute through Chris Lubanga, whose successful penalty reduced the deficit to 5-3 after another Kenyan infringement.

Kenya, however, ensured they headed into the break with momentum when Victor Sudi dotted down for their second try to restore breathing space and send the visitors into halftime leading 10-3.

Uganda came out with renewed energy after the restart but continued to waste scoring opportunities, missing another penalty before Kenya's defence produced one of the defining moments of the match.

After conceding a penalty near their own try line in the 56th minute, Kenya watched Uganda opt for a scrum instead of taking three points. The visitors absorbed sustained pressure, refusing to crack despite repeated attacks from the hosts.

That resilience proved decisive.

With 16 minutes remaining, Tony Owuor powered over for Kenya's third try before Mukidza finally found his range with the conversion to open up a commanding 17-3 advantage.

Uganda kept the contest alive when Robert Aziku crossed over in the 69th minute, with Lubanga converting to cut the deficit to seven points.

The hosts threw everything forward in the closing stages, even turning down another kick at goal in favour of a scrum deep inside Kenya's territory as they searched for the converted try that would have swung the aggregate score in their favour.

But Kenya's defensive resolve held firm until the final whistle, sealing a deserved 17-10 victory and a 32-26 aggregate success.
