KCB were meant to work hard for a 26-13 win over Top Fry Nakuru for their eighth consecutive Kenya Cup victory to firm their grip at the summit of the table in a match staged at the Den on Saturday

KCB arrived into the clash brimming with confidence following their half century 50-3 win over Mwamba RFC making it seven out of seven in the Kenya Cup this season and currently sit at the summit of log, enjoying a three points advantage of 2016 winners Kabras Sugar who have played a game less.

Top Fry Nakuru however were stuttering in the league following three consecutive defeats with Strathmore Leos handing them a 44-5 hinding in their last clash.

KCB were quickly off the blocks scoring a fourth minute try from a well worked line out with the ball going a couple of phases before Jacob Ojoo touched down with Levi Amunga adding the extras.

Nakuru squandered a chance to put six points on the board when Samuel Mwaura and Fredrick Odongo missed the mark with penalties close to the sticks. Odongo however made amends by slotting in a penalty in the 26th minute.

After a barren spell in the game that was marred by poor handling skills but KCB finally got their second try after falling short on the five meter line a couple of times as Elly Mukaidzi touched down from powerful KCB scrum with Darwin Mukidza converting the try as the Bankers went into the half time break with a 14-3 lead.

Nakuru returned into the second half a rejuvenated side and needed only seven minutes to claim their first try of the game as John Okoth breathed the KCB line to run through and touchdown but Mwaura missed the conversation.

KCB head coach Curtis Olago rang the changes seemingly unimpressed with the proceedings and the replacements worked their magic with Rocky Aguko powering through a sea of bodies to touch down Mukidza was again successful with the conversion to extend their lead to 21-8.

KCB put some daylight between them and Nakuru as they secured a line out close to the five minute line and drove a maul over the whitewash with Curtis Likalo touching down but Mukidza surrendered his 100% kick rate with a miss.

Nakuru however were not about to go down without a fight showing some brilliant handling skills as Emmanuel Mboya offloaded the ball to Samuel Mwaura to claim the try but Nakuru's poor kicking skills denied them two points.

KCB held on for a 26-13 win to extend their winning streak to eight.
