In another derby of Match Day 4, Kenya Harlequins became the fifth side to maintain their 100% start
Nondescripts RFC started their 2025 campaign on a high note, securing a convincing 23-3 victory over Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in a Kenya Cup clash staged at Blad Bin on Saturday 11 January.
Elsewhere Kabras Sugar RFC extended their perfect start to the campaign with a 45-5 win over Strathmore Leos as KCB thumped Mwamba 22-72 while Menengai Oilers claimed bragging rights after beating Nakuru RFC 15-32.
In another derby of Match Day 4, Kenya Harlequins became the fifth side to maintain their 100% start following a 48-12 win over Impala RFC in the Ngong Road Derby.
Coming into the match, Nondies were riding the wave of a three-game winning streak, having dispatched Impala RFC (29-3), Nakuru RFC (24-8), and Mwamba RFC (18-9). The Red Shirts were determined to extend their run and did not disappoint.
Blad on the other hand were coming off a loss at the hands of Kenya Harlequin and were looking to bounce back to winning ways.
Despite being the visiting team, Nondies wasted no time asserting themselves.
They capitalized on an early Blak Blad mistake, with Tony Fidens coolly slotting in a penalty to give his side the lead.
A second infringement by the hosts gifted Fidens another opportunity, and the ever-reliable kicker added three more points to make it 6-0.
Blak Blad responded just before halftime when Daniel Ochieng successfully converted a penalty to record their only points of the match. With no tries scored in the first half, Nondies led 6-3 going into the break.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Nondies side take control.
Fred Shisia broke the try deadlock with a brilliant effort that was duly converted by Fidens. The visitors continued to pile on the pressure, with Ryan Odua crossing the whitewash for Nondies’ second try of the game.
Fidens then capped off an impressive personal performance with a try of his own, sealing the win emphatically.
Blak Blad struggled to find their rhythm and were unable to mount a comeback, suffering their second defeat of the season.
With their fourth consecutive win, Nondies have firmly established themselves as one of the teams to watch in this year’s competition. They will look to maintain their momentum when they host Kenya Harlequin at the Jamhuri Grounds on Saturday 18 January.
Blak Blad, meanwhile, will seek redemption as they travel to Nakuru to face the Menengai Oilers on the same day.
