Daystar Falcons went back to Athi River with the Challenge Cup as KCB RFC consoled themselves after missing out on the National Sevens Circuit with a third place finish after beating Strathmore Leos 21-14 in the third place playoffs of the Kakamega 7s
Homeboyz RFC who were outside contenders of the title coming in Kakamega 7s had a blistering start to the first half as they run out 12-0 Remke Jan orchestrating the impressive opening half performance.
Thomas Okeyo handed Nakuru a way back into the tie after powering through into the try line but Brian Juma restored Homeboyz's 12 points advantage with a try after running the entire length of the field.
Western Bulls who are the hosts of the Kakamega 7s failed to turn up in their own backyard as they lost the 13th place final to Vihiga Granites who have been impressive by their own standards in recent legs.
The Challenge Cup final served up a Varsity Derby as Kenyatta University's Blak Bad facing Daystar University who have thrilled fans with their enterprising rugby in the entire circuit, the protagonist being Patrick Odongo.
The first half was a tight affair that ended 5-0 but Daystar Falcons resumed the second half a different beast as they beat Blak Blad 12-14 with discipline ultimately costing Kenyatta University as Archadius Khwesa was sent to the bin twice.
