The Kakamega High School alumnus joins the Pirates with a wealth of experience both locally and regionally.
Notably, Polisi spent the past season in Uganda, where he captained Jinja Hippos to their first-ever Uganda Rugby Premiership appearance and featured for them in the ongoing Uganda 7s Series.
He has also been actively involved in grassroots rugby development, working with Tororo Crest and guiding Moi University Arsonists to consistent success.
In a statement released by South Coast Pirates on Friday morning, Polisi will guide the team in the upcoming 2025/26 KRU Championship season.
“As a club, we are delighted to welcome Tony ‘Lujesi’ Khadambi as the new Head Coach of South Coast Pirates RFC.
A proven leader on and off the field, Coach Khadambi brings a wealth of experience from his decorated playing career with Impala, KCB, Homeboyz, and Kenya U20 (Chipu), where he captained the 7s side.
With his passion for the game, player welfare, and community development, Khadambi embodies the Pirate spirit of ambition, resilience, and family,” the statement read.
As of the time of writing this article, it was still unclear if Polisi had hung up his boots. He represented Homeboyz RFC, Moi Arsonists, Impala RFC, and Harlequin before moving to Uganda.
He also featured for the Kenya Rugby League National Team, cementing his reputation as one of the most versatile backs of his generation.
The dynamic back takes over from Kevin Amiani, who guided the Pirates for three seasons and made history by leading them to their maiden Kenya Cup qualification in 2024, becoming the first-ever team from Kwale County to feature in the country’s top-tier.
However, the side lasted only a single season before being relegated.
The new coach now faces the challenge of steering the South Coast Pirates back to the Kenya Cup.
