Monks fought for a consolation try late in the match, but KCB’s defense held firm, sealing the 86-7 victory emphatically.

KCB RFC delivered a rugby masterclass courtesy of a resounding 86-7 victory over Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks in a one-sided Enterprise Cup encounter played on Saturday 8 February at the KCB Sports Club.

CUEA Monks headed to this match hoping to avenge their 68-6 defeat to the Bankers during the Impala Floodlights' second-plate semifinals in October 2024.

The match began with Michael Wanjala opening the scoring for KCB, his try successfully converted by Austine Sikutwa.

Captain Jacob Ojee followed up with another try, establishing their early dominance.

CUEA Monks managed to get on the scoreboard through Philip Walukawa’s try, which was converted by Victor Reins, but those would be their only points of the match.

KCB quickly resumed control, with Patrick Ouko adding another try, once again converted by Sikutwa.

Andycolle Omollo then dazzled with a spectacular try evoking memories of his try against Kenya Harlequins last weekend which he scored in a similar fashion.

Ojee then returned to the scoresheet with his second try of the match. Omollo sealed the first half with his brace, pushing KCB into an unassailable lead by the break.

The second half began similarly, as Felix Ojoo capitalized on a smooth passing sequence to score on the right side. His conversion attempt however struck the post.

KCB then exploited an infringement by CUEA Monks, gaining possession from a lineout and stringing together a series of passes that resulted in another try, successfully converted by Sikutwa.

Ojee was back on the scoresheet, benefiting from a well-executed scrum move, before scoring again off a well-orchestrated kick. Amunga converted, taking the score to 58-7.

CUEA Monks had a fleeting opportunity to add points after a KCB infringement, but their penalty kick attempt fell short.

KCB’s dominance continued as Tyson Maina burst through the Monks' defense to score, with the conversion on target.

Monks attempted to relieve pressure by kicking to KCB's territory after winning a scrum, but an errant kick gifted KCB a lineout. From there, Maina added another try, and successfully converted.

Manasseh then crossed the whitewash, adding to the tally, before Ojee capped off his phenomenal performance with another try, converted by Amunga.

Monks fought for a consolation try late in the match, but KCB’s defense held firm, sealing the 86-7 victory emphatically.

Meanwhile, in Kakamega, Kabras RFC wasted no time in asserting their need to win their fifth consecutive Enterprise Cup title after seeing off Kenya Harlequin 43-20.

The Bankers will lock horns with Kabras RFC in the Enterprise Cup semifinal match slated for Saturday 8 March while Nondies RFC tackle Menengai Oilers.

Both sides reached the semifinal stage without kicking a ball after receiving a walkover from South Coast Pirates and Homeboyz RFC respectively.
