Pirates were themselves beneficiary of another walkover from Blak Blad

Nondies RFC have proceeded to the semifinals of the 2025 Enterprise without breaking a sweat. This is after they received a walkover from Kwale-based South Coast Pirates in a match that was slated for Saturday 8 January at the Ngong Racecourse.

Ironically, South Coast Pirates had themselves reached this stage through a similar fate, having been awarded a walkover after Blak Blad RFC failed to travel to Diani due to financial constraints.

Nondies, on the other hand, reached the quarterfinal stage after seeing off their Ngong Road rivals 29-3 at the pre quarterfinal stage.

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) broke the news in a statement.

“Nondescripts RFC earn a straight ticket to the semis after getting a walkover from South Coast Pirates,” KRU announced.

Meanwhile, Homeboyz RFC will travel to Nakuru to lock horns with Menengai Oilers while Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks make a short trip to the KCB Sports Club to tackle the Bankers.

Over in Kakamega, Kabras RFC will host wounded Kenya Harlequin in what is expected to be a mouthwatering clash.

The semi-finals are penciled for Saturday 8 March, and the final for 22 April.

This year’s Enterprise Cup marks a significant change as it runs concurrently with the Kenya Cup season, a departure from previous years when it was held after the conclusion of the 15s season.

The Enterprise Cup, which made its much-anticipated return in 2023, has faced challenges with some teams giving walkovers.

This year marks the first time since the 2019/20 season that the tournament runs concurrently with the Kenya Cup.

The 2019/20 season was halted before the semi-finals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kabras RFC will aim to defend their title after an impressive 32-20 victory over arch-rivals KCB in the 2023 final held at RFUEA Grounds.

The Enterprise Cup is the oldest competition in the country. It is the fiber of rugby competition in the East African region.

It was started in 1928. 86 years later, and with more than 75 competitions played, the competition’s trophy tells a tale of the evolution of the game and the history of rugby in East Africa.
