Driftwood 7s: Kabras, Oilers, KCB, Quins take advantage in Round two

In the day's surprise result, Homeboyz RFC went to the second match on the wrong footing, only to suffer a 17-0 heartbreak at the hands of Kisumu RFC
As the temperatures at the Mombasa Sports Club rose, so did the intensity of the ongoing competition, with teams vying for supremacy in the nerve-wracking 2023 Driftwood 7s tournament.
A look at the day's results;
POOL A
Nakuru RFC, who started their day on a high by defeating Blak Blad were humbled 10-5 by determined Nondescripts. The Callum Oliver-coached side was bouncing back from a 22-0 opening loss to KCB Rugby.
KCB Rugby on the other hand kept their fine form going, handing their Thika Road opponents Blak Blad 45-5. So far, the bankers are topping their pool with 6 points.

POOL B
Homeboyz RFC went to the second match on the wrong footing to suffer a 17-0 heartbreak at the hands of Kisumu RFC. The Deejayz had started off well, but they will be looking to bounce back in their match against Kabras Sugar RFC.
In the same pool, Kabras RFC silenced Mombasa RFC 17-0.
POOL C
Defending NSC Champions Menengai Oilers registered their second win of the day by seeing off Catholic Monks 19-12 in the closely contested match.
MMUST Rugby registered yet another disappointing performance after falling 36-5 to Strathmore Leos. All eyes now shift to the top-of-the-pool clash featuring Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers.
POOL D
Despite the Falcons losing 17-12, one could attest to their hard work and defense. The students were coming from a narrow 20-19 loss over Kenya Harlequins and were seeking to impress.
Paul Murunga's charges registered their first clean sheet of the day thanks to Kabarak University. The Quins disciplined the students 19-0 in the final round two match.
All teams now have one more pool game to go.
