KCB fullback Davies Nyaundi has set lofty ambitions with the team ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 Kenya Cup season.

The former Menengai Oilers player joined KCB during the recently concluded transfer season.

He moved to Nairobi together with his teammate Tyson Maina.

Nyaundi made his debut for the Bankers during the Kabeberi 7s when he played a crucial role in leading them to a third consecutive title.

The match carried emotional weight for Nyaundi as he faced his former side, defeating them 29-5.

He has now settled at the Thika Road-based club and is focused on achieving two main goals; featuring for the Simbas and lifting the Kenya Cup title with KCB.

The last time the Bankers won the Kenya Cup title was in September 2021 at the Nandi Bears Club.

KCB has been my dream team since I was in high school. My dream now is to make the Kenya Simbas squad. My next target is lifting the Kenya Cup title with KCB Rugby,” he said.

His journey to greatness has been hampered by injuries that have tested his resilience. He first suffered a knee injury before breaking his forearm during the 2022 Kabeberi 7s.

Despite these setbacks, he has worked hard to get back in shape and regain his form.

“Injury has been my biggest setback. First, I hurt my knee, then I broke my forearm. I am, however, getting back to form,” Nyaundi shared.

Nyaundi's rugby journey began in Homa Bay High School, where his brothers introduced him to the sport.

After two years with Homa Bay, he transferred to Menengai High School, which became a launching pad for his career. From high school, he joined the Menengai Oilers.

His time at Oilers paved the way for his call-up to the Kenya 7s squad, an experience he holds dear.

My highest moment was when I was called to Kenya 7s. Thank God that during that time, there were senior players who helped me learn a few things about the game,” he recalled.

As he prepares for the upcoming season, Nyaundi expressed gratitude to the fans who have supported him and the team through thick and thin.

To our fans, thank you for your support throughout. I urge you to keep supporting us. We promise a better season next season,” he concluded.

The Bankers will compete in the upcoming Impala Floodlights as they gear up for the Kenya Cup season.
