Sliders, Butali dominate match week four of KHU Leagues

Sliders Hockey Club and Butali Warriors registered emphatic wins in match week four of the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Leagues, delivering dominant performances in their respective Premier League ties.

In the women’s Premier League, Sliders Hockey Club were the weekend’s standout performers as they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) on Sunday at the Mombasa Sports Club grounds.

Charity Miller led the charge with a brace, while Lucky Adhiambo and Daisy Okuku also got their names on the score sheet. MSC’s consolation goal came from Yvonne Chemutai.

In the men’s Premier League, Butali Warriors displayed ruthless form with a resounding 6-2 win against Sikh Union Nairobi at Dashmesh Stadium.

Festus Onyango netted a brace, while Vincent Odhiambo, Kennedy Munialo, Frankline Wakhongo, and George Mutira each scored a goal.

Sikh Union responded with two goals in the second half from Sutcliffe Usagi in the 48th minute and Mathias Gulalire in the 59th, but it was too little, too late.

Butali’s win capped a productive weekend after edging Kenya Police 2-1 on Saturday in another Premier League fixture.

Elsewhere in women’s action, Mombasa Sports Club edged Amira Sailors 2-1 on Saturday in a tightly contested encounter.

In the women’s Super League, Mwiki Hockey and Wazalendo Pearls settled for a goalless draw.

In the men’s National League, Lakers Men secured a 2-0 win over Western Jaguars Development, while Mombasa West played to a 1-1 draw with debutants Parklands Sports Club Legacy.

Prize money for Nakuru Open Chess Championships announced

The men’s Super League saw mixed results as Park Road Tigers drew 1-1 with Wazalendo Masters and Mvita XI eased past Sailors with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Aryans Sports Club in Mombasa.

On Sunday, Mvita XI and Greensharks drew 1-1, while Park Road Badgers edged Wazalendo Masters 1-0.

In another National League fixture on Sunday, Mombasa Sports Club beat Parklands Sports Club Legacy 1-0.
