Strathmore University Scorpions have opened a five-point gap at the top of the Kenya Hockey Union Women's Premier League after humbling Amira Sailors 3-0 at the City Park Stadium on Saturday.
The students who are bidding to break Blazers dominance in the league have been firing from all cylinders this season as they are yet to taste defeat.
Prior to the game, Scorpions were enjoying a two-point gap ahead of Blazers who are having a rest day on Saturday having played two matches last weekend.
Meshack Senge's charges took the lead in the second minute through the multi-talented Kenyan international Gilly Okumu who sounded the board from a penalty corner.
Four minutes later, Angela Bahati capitalized on Amira's shaky start to stretch the advantage for the Scorpions from a well worked field goal.
Nicole Odhiambo put the results beyond the reach of Amira as she scored the third goal in the tenth minute to guarantee her side the sixth win of the season.
In the nationwide league, Kisii Falcons floored Nandi Hawks 1-0 in Kapsabet with Douglas Maseria getting the sole goal in the seventh minute.
Kenyatta University beat Mombasa Sports Club 2-1 at the Aryans grounds in the Women's Super League while Sikh Union saw off Wazalendo Masters 6-2 at the Dashmesh Stadium in the men's category.
