The NCBA Golf Series makes its sixth stop of the season at Kenya Railway Golf Club on Saturday, while the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) circuit ushers in a new event, the Ulinzi Invitational, at Kenya Air Force Golf Club.

More than 130 golfers are expected at Railway as they compete for qualification slots to the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale later in the year at Karen Country Club.

The competition will feature a range of categories, including overall gross winners and runners-up for both men and ladies, as well as prizes for top overall performers and the leading junior.

On the elite amateur front, attention shifts to the Ulinzi Invitational, which tees off on Friday, 27 March, and runs through Sunday, 29 March.

The tournament is one of two new additions to the KAGC calendar this season, alongside the upcoming Machakos Open set for mid-April.

A competitive field of over 70 golfers has been assembled, including Rwanda’s Jean D’amour Hitayezu and Felix Dusabe from Kigali Golf Resort & Villas.

Kenya’s challenge will be led by Michael Warigia of Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club, who arrives in strong form following a third-place finish at last weekend’s NCBA Muthaiga Open.

He will be joined by notable contenders Longwe Kamoza and Isaac Makokha as players chase valuable Order of Merit points and a share of the Ksh500,000 prize purse.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to growing the sport, highlighting the importance of creating competitive platforms for golfers across all levels.

“At NCBA, we believe in creating platforms that nurture talent and bring the golfing community together. The NCBA Golf Series continues to give golfers across the country an opportunity to compete, improve their game, and build meaningful connections.

As the series heads to Railway this weekend, we look forward to another exciting round of competition and to seeing more players secure their place at the Grand Finale.

It is also a busy weekend for elite amateurs with the Ulinzi Invitational, as well as for juniors with the NCBA Coast Junior Open,” he said.

The Ulinzi Invitational comes just a week after the NCBA Muthaiga Open, where Jay Sandhu continued his fine run of form, securing his second consecutive KAGC title after edging a strong field of over 140 players.

The victory extended his lead at the top of the Order of Merit standings, with rising junior Junaid Manji and defending champion John Lejirma still firmly in contention as the season unfolds.

Junior golf also remains in focus, with the All Africa Junior Team Championship concluding on Thursday, 26 March, before attention shifts to the Coast Junior Open on Saturday, 28 March, further underlining a packed and competitive weekend for the sport.
