
Kenya hockey union names final squads for 2024 junior Africa Cup in Namibia

The Kenya Hockey Union has named the final men’s and women’s Under-21 squads for the 2024 edition of the Junior Africa Cup (JAC), scheduled to take place in Windhoek, Namibia, from April 18 to April 27, 2025. The top three teams in each gender category will automatically qualify for the 2025 FIH Junior World Cup.
A total of eight men's teams and seven women's teams will compete for the coveted three qualification slots in each category. In the men's category, Kenya will face Egypt, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. On the women’s side, Kenya’s juniors will battle Ghana, Namibia, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The men’s team will be captained by Matthias Gualire, with Charles Otieno Shiundu serving as vice-captain. The squad features a blend of experience and youthful flair across all positions. The women’s team will be led by captain Daughty Ranga, with Marion Nelima as her deputy.
