KCB thrash Prisons women volleyball team

The bankers consolidated their occupation of the Kenya Volleyball Federation league table.

KCB Women’s volleyball team beat stubborn Nairobi Prisons side by 3-0 sets on Friday to cement their place on top of the Kenya Volleyball Federation league.

Malkia Strikers captain and KCB player Mercy Moim inspired the side to an enthralling (25-15) first set win after an early scare from the inspired Nairobi Prisons side.

Coach Munala made some few changes in the second set introducing opposite attacker Sharon Chepchumba Kiprono who helped the ladies clinch the second set with a close win of (25-21).

The Ladies put in an emphatic show in the third set with a landslide win of (25-15) with most of the Nairobi Prisons players looking knackered. The players were buzzing on the final whistle with them being at the top of the league with the KVF league taking a break from action to pave way for National team Malkia Strikers preparations for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Coach Munala was delighted with the performance and confident that the team is improving from game to game. “So far so good, we have been training hard, the cohesiveness of the team is coming out clearly and we hope before the playoffs the cohesiveness would be match better.” Said Munala.

Coach Munala was also beaming confidence on 8 of his players representing the country and club well in Malkia Strikers duties as the national team is expected to hit camp in the preparations for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

I expect all my players to remain in the National and that none will miss the Tokyo 2021 Olympics,” added coach Munala.

Eight of the KCB players have been called up for National team Malkia Strikers team and will leave the squad this weekend to link up with the National team squad for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics preparations.
