The next women's leg is slated for December in Nandi County.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league continued this weekend in Mombasa despite the division being witnessed amongst clubs on the way forward.

Bankers KCB, one of three clubs that honoured the Mombasa fixture posted mixed results, going down 3-1 ( 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25) to former league champions Kenya Pipeline in their opening encounter on Friday.

On Saturday, the star-studded side struggled to dispense Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ladies in the first set but settled well to register a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-16) victory.

Head coach Japheth Munala believes his charges needed the win after the dismal performance against the in-form oilers.

"I am very happy with the DCI win. Against Pipeline, we made a lot of mistakes, especially with our service and that lost us many points. We had a better game against DCI, having corrected our mistakes," offered Munala.

With all the other teams a no-show, that is all the volleyball action the coastal city will witness on a weekend that had eleven matches scheduled.

Meanwhile, DCI tactician Daniel Bor says his charges have work to do before the next matches slated for Mosoriot in December when the men's league is expected to begin.

"We had a good start to the match against KCB but after some time we lost concentration and the confidence, allowing them an easy game. Our cohesion was put to test and alot of flaws were exposed.

We have, however, picked valuable lessons from this match. Apart from the Nyerere championship we played, it has been a long time of inaction and we need more friendly matches that will give us a better test and help us work on weak areas," Bor offered.
