Six matches are on the cards on Saturday and Sunday with more to play for this season

Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women’s league champions Ulinzi Sharks are looking to continue their winning start as they take on newbies Kisiwa TTI on Sunday 6 October.

The military side goes into the clash as favourites, having won a double as they are also the Super Cup defending champions after dethroning Nairobi Water in both instances.

In addition to the title that the Nixon Oyaro-led side is looking to defend, there's more at stake as the top six finishers qualify for the next edition of the Super Cup while the top 12 create a premier league in the next season.

According to KHF, teams opted not to use last season's standings to split the league and create a promotion-demotion format.

"Every team has been given an opportunity to fight for a topflight place this season. The top 12 qualify while the rest form the lower leagues. We are planning to cap the teams this season at 20 or 22 and anyone showing interest after will join the lower division," offered KHF's George Asimeto

Saturday's action will see Bungoma-based Kisiwa TTI tackle Kenyatta (KU) and Daystar Universities in the women’s league at 9 am and 3 pm respectively. The other women’s match of the day pits National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) against Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT).

On Sunday, the Millers also have a date with Kisiwa at 3 pm.

In the men's league, Kisiwa plays KU and Daystar while Desert Scorpions take on JKUAT. Sunday's action pits Kisiwa against Ulinzi HC while Strathmore welcomes Desert Scorpions as Black Mamba face the busy Kisiwa. KU face General Service Unit (GSU) in the last match of the weekend.
