The semifinals will be played from July 3-5 at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium in Nairobi.
It will be the first time in recent years that the paramilitary side misses out on the semifinals.
However, their struggles have been compounded by the departure of key players, setter Mathias Kemboi to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), and in-form outside hitter Nicholas Matui to Rwanda's Kepler VC.
Coached by Gideon Tarus, GSU fell 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 21-25, 21-25) to perennial rivals Kenya Prisons on Sunday after suffering a straight-sets defeat in the opening match on Saturday, losing the best-of-three series 2-0.
GSU will now feature in the classification matches alongside Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU), Trailblazers,s and Equity Bank, who also bowed out at the quarterfinal stage.
Chema Volleyball Club recovered from a set down to defeat Trailblazers 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21), while Kenya Defence Forces edged Equity Bank 3-2 (22-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17, 15-11).
Hosts Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) completed the semifinal lineup after sweeping KAPU 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17).
In the women's competition, defending champions Kenya Pipeline, KCB Women's Volleyball Team, Kenya Prisons, and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) all secured their places in the semifinals after eliminating their opponents at Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa.
Kenya Pipeline eased past Nairobi Prisons 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-14) to complete a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three series, having also won the opening match 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-20).
Kenya Prisons also progressed comfortably after dismissing Kenya Army 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-11). Josp Barasa's charges sealed the series 2-0 after another dominant display against their disciplined forces' rivals.
Two-time African champions KCB Volleyball were equally impressive, thrashing KDF 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) to book their semifinal ticket.
DCI, however, were pushed all the way by Postbank Queens before eventually prevailing 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-9).
The sleuths won the opening set before Postbank levelled the contest. DCI regained the lead in the third set, only for the bankers to force a decider with a hard-fought fourth-set victory.
DCI held their nerve in the fifth set, winning 15-9 to squeeze into the semifinals.
KDF, Kenya Army, Postba K, and Nairobi Prisons will now compete in the classification matches.
