Former Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Ababu Namwamba has stepped into a prominent new role as the President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance.
This appointment is significant not only for Namwamba but also for the legal community in Kenya and across the African continent. The Alliance aims to foster legal cooperation between African and Chinese legal professionals, focusing on the mutual exchange of legal expertise and services.
Namwamba, an established lawyer and founder of Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-Law, expressed his excitement at the new opportunity.
“Honored to accept the position of President of the Africa-China Legal Alliance, inspired by the ground-breaking joint work of Ababu Namwamba Attorneys-at-Law and Chinese Jingsh Law Firm,” he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing legal understanding and solutions, particularly between Africa and China, whose economic ties continue to grow.
The former CS went on to note that the collaboration with Jingsh Law Firm, one of China’s most respected law firms, marks a historic partnership in the legal sector. He will soon travel to China to formalize the alliance.
“Travelling to China shortly to formalize this historic partnership. Justice is a universal language, and the globe is the pinnacle stage for its grandest manifestation. World, our oyster,” he offered.
The Africa-China Legal Alliance will address various legal issues, including international trade, dispute resolution, and intellectual property rights.
His appointment reflects a broader vision for strengthening legal partnerships across borders, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and building bridges in the international legal landscape.
Namwamba is expected to bring extensive experience from both his legal background and his time as Sports CS, where he was known for his passionate advocacy for youth and sports development in Kenya.
