The countdown to the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Games is almost over, with the country's top secondary school athletes set to converge in Kiambu County for one of the biggest events on the schools' sports calendar.

Sponsored by KCB, this year's championships will run from 26 July to 2 August, hosted by the Central Region, with MPesa Foundation Academy serving as the main competition venue.
Football, volleyball, basketball 3x3, netball, rugby sevens, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, chess and scrabble will all be staged at the academy.
Cricket and beach volleyball matches will be played at Mang'u High School, while Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will host the baseball competition.
Teams will also be accommodated at two separate venues, with girls staying at Mary Hill Girls High School and boys housed at Mang'u High School throughout the championship.
The program begins with referees' clinics on 26-27 July, followed by the arrival of teams on 27 July.
Competitors will observe a rest day and participate in a tree-planting exercise on 28 July, before the official opening ceremony ushers in the start of competition on 29 July.
Matches across all disciplines will continue until 2 August, when champions will be crowned during the finals before the closing ceremony later that day. Teams are scheduled to depart on 3 August.
This year's edition features a packed program comprising football, volleyball, beach volleyball, rugby sevens, basketball 3x3, racquet sports, cricket, baseball, chess and scrabble, reflecting the continued growth and diversity of school sports in Kenya.
Several storylines are expected to dominate the week-long championship.
In football, former champions Kakamega School return to the national stage for the first time since lifting the title in 2018, while defending boys' champions St. Joseph's Boys Kitale were eliminated during the county championships.
In the girls' competition, defending champions Butere Girls will also miss the nationals after falling in the Western Region final.
Volleyball promises another fascinating contest after reigning boys' national and FEASSSA champions Cheptil Secondary failed to qualify, guaranteeing a new national champion.
In contrast, defending girls' champions Kwanthanze Secondary remain on course for a third consecutive national title after successfully defending the Eastern Region championship.
The rugby sevens competition also arrives with fresh intrigue. Defending boys' champions St. Peter's Mumias were eliminated during the Western Region championships, ensuring a new champion will be crowned, while Kinale Girls return to defend the girls' title they won in 2025.
Beyond the pursuit of national honors, teams will also be competing for places at the FEASSSA Games, where Kenya's representatives will face the best school teams from across East Africa.
With hundreds of student-athletes expected in Kiambu County and national titles on the line across multiple disciplines, the 2026 KSSSA Term Two Games promise another week of elite competition, emerging talent, and memorable moments as Kenya's finest school teams battle for supremacy.
