With 'villain' Alonso out of the picture, Madrid and Vini return to the negotiating table

Los Blancos initially wanted to wait until the end of the season due to the Brazilian's problems with Xabi, but now that the "obstacle" is gone, the talks may start soon
The unprecedented crisis at Real Madrid has hit and worried everyone. Los Blancos lost the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona, which eventually cost Xabi Alonso his job, but things did not improve with Alvaro Arbeloa on the bench either, as the second-tier side Albacete stunned the giants, knocking them out of the Copa del Rey.
However, believe it or not, there could be a silver lining in this highly critical situation at Santiago Bernabeu, despite the change in the dugout. Or better said, thanks to it.
Namely, during the previous couple of months, Vinicius Jr's contract extension has been one of the primary topics at Madrid. Still, the Brazilian refused to sign anything, as he wasn't satisfied with his status under Alonso and their relationship.
The situation was so bad that Los Blancos' management considered delaying negotiations with Vini until the end of the season. Nevertheless, with the "villain" Xabi out of the picture, the tables have turned, and the talks between the forward and the club could begin before the end of January, claims the Spanish media outlet Cadena SER.

The new manager, Arbeloa, is reportedly keen to give the lead role to Vinicius, as he'd share the spotlight with Kylian Mbappe, which is apparently a highly acceptable proposal for the Brazilian.
Vini's current deal with Madrid expires in June 2027, while he signed his last extension in October 2023. The days ahead will tell whether the two parties will return to the negotiating table.
