The Brewers, who last lifted the league crown in the 2021/22 season, are chasing a return to the summit after a season marked by inconsistency

Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere has insisted the Brewers remain firmly in the hunt for the Kenyan Premier League title, despite sitting seventh on the table with 27 points, nine behind joint leaders Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

The Brewers, who last lifted the league crown in the 2020/2021 season, are chasing consistent wins after blowing hot and cold in the first leg.

As the league enters its second leg, Okere has urged his players to stay focused, warning that the margins are now razor-thin and mistakes could prove costly in the title run-in.

The league is very tight. When you lose, you drop down the table, and when you win, you at least try to stay afloat,” Okere said.

For us, it is about finding the right balance in the team so that we stay within the top five. Now that we are in the second leg, there is no margin for error.”

Tusker have struggled to build momentum this season, rarely stringing together consecutive victories.

However, they responded to back-to-back defeats with a morale-boosting 2-1 win over KCB, a result Okere believes could mark a turning point in their campaign.

The feeling is very positive because we had lost two matches in a row before playing KCB,” he explained.

We sat down with the players and analysed how our opponents were going to play. I thank the players for the win, tactically, we got it right.

With 16 matches still to play, the Brewers know that closing the gap on Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will require near-perfection, especially with goal difference likely to be decisive at the end of the season.

We still have a lot of work to do, particularly because goal difference will matter,” Okere said.

We face Posta Rangers next, and as the transfer window closes, we are looking to bring in one or two players to strengthen the squad.
