Nairobi United head coach Nicholas Muyoti, has sensationally claimed that consistent Harambee Stars call-ups have significantly contributed to Manzur Suleiman Okwaro's injury woes.

Okwaro has not featured for Nairobi United since joining the club, before the start of the season from KCB FC.
Before making the switch, Okwaro was on top of his game with the national team, particularly in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals and the subsequent 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The youngster, who can play as a central defender, left back, and as a defensive midfielder, was widely expected to hit the ground running at Nairobi United, especially in the CAF Confederation Cup, but he has yet to see game time with the league's new boys.
His long and unexplained absence from club duties raised concerns, given the fact that he earned Harambee Stars' call-ups and secured playing time in the October and September FIFA windows.
Reacting to Okwaro's absence from club duties, Muyoti revealed that the versatile player has been struggling with a knee injury picked up in the off-season period.
The tactician regretted that Okwaro's involvement in Harambee Stars' matches during the September and October windows slowed his recovery.
Stars played The Gambia and Seychelles in September, before taking on Burundi and Ivory Coast last month.
“Manzur is currently under medication. He has a knee injury, which is being taken care of by our doctor. He has been earning call-ups to the national team, and the coach has been using him, which is a big risk. He also played the last time he got a call-up up which made the injury recur,” revealed Muyoti.
Nevertheless, the former Kakamega Homeboyz tactician revealed that the 19-year-old is under the watchful eyes of the club's medical team, who are working around the clock to have him ready as soon as possible.
In the interest of his full recovery, Okwaro withdrew from the national team ahead of this week's friendly matches against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal.
“We have been taking care of him through medication even as we monitor his recovery.
When he joined us, he was under rehabilitation and making good progress under the supervision of our medical team,” added Muyoti.
