Nairobi City Stars head coach Salim Babu remains unfazed by the ongoing mass departure of players from the club, following their relegation to the National Super League (NSL).
The Kawangware-based outfit has witnessed an exodus of close to 10 key players, with more expected to leave in the coming weeks.

The departures come in the wake of the club’s demotion from the top-tier FKF Premier League, where they finished at the foot of the 18-team table with 35 points.
Despite the worrying trend, Babu says he had anticipated the outcome and is already setting his sights on a strong rebuild.
"I am not surprised or worried about the massive walkouts,” Babu stated.
“It was bound to happen, and personally, I expected the departures. But this presents the perfect opportunity to get everything right,” he added.
Among the notable players who have parted ways with the club are; Wycliffe Omondi (Shabana FC), Kelvin Etemesi and Rowland Makati (both to KCB), Kevin Juma (Nairobi United), Edwin Buliba, Gilbert Abala, goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe, Maxwell Odada, Hansel Ochieng (now at APS Bomet), and Vincent Owino, who has joined 12-time league champions Tusker FC.
While the turnover may raise concerns, Babu who guided Kenya Police to a Mozzart Bet Cup triumph, in 2023, believes it offers a clean slate to lay a solid foundation for the club's return to the top flight.
"We are going to massively recruit and build a squad capable of competing next season. Our target is clear,we want to bounce back immediately,” he affirmed.
“We will bring in fairly experienced players, those willing to fight and commit to the club’s ambitions," he assured.
Babu, who also doubles up as the national U-20 team head coach, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure promotion in the upcoming campaign.
"Expect City Stars back in the Premier League at the end of the season. I will now have full control and time with the team, and I am determined to assemble a squad that can steer us back where we belong," he added.
City Stars' relegation marks their second in under a decade, having previously dropped from the top flight in 2016.
