Just before the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, PSG still have domestic duties to take care of against Lorient — the title race in Ligue 1 is still not fully decided

Paris Saint-Germain are back in domestic action on Saturday, welcoming Lorient to the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1, with the league leaders looking to edge closer to wrapping up the title in front of their own fans.

Luis Enrique’s side arrive in high spirits after a dramatic nine-goal first leg in their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. Despite that European spectacle exposing some defensive flaws, PSG’s attacking quality was once again on full display.

With a six-point cushion at the top of Ligue 1, PSG remain in firm control of the title race. However, this fixture also comes with a balancing act: maintaining momentum while carefully managing fitness ahead of the decisive second leg in midweek. Rotation is expected, as Enrique looks to keep key players fresh for the European showdown.

The Bayern clash highlighted both sides of PSG’s game—devastating going forward but occasionally vulnerable at the back. Against Lorient, the expectation will be a more controlled performance, with greater discipline and a focus on efficiency rather than chaos.

Squad selection will be a major talking point. Several regular starters could be rested or given reduced minutes, opening the door for squad players to step in and make an impression as PSG juggle domestic dominance with Champions League ambitions.

Lorient travel to Paris in mixed form, having won just three of their last 12 matches in all competitions. That marks a dip compared to their strong winter spell, when they went unbeaten for two months with a run of eight wins and four draws before fading in early February.

PSG will also be without Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a hamstring injury against Bayern and is ruled out of both this match and the return leg in Germany. His absence is a significant blow on the right side, with Zaire-Emery among the options being considered to fill in due to his versatility.

Overall, Enrique is expected to rotate and manage workloads carefully, prioritising freshness and control as PSG look to secure three points without jeopardising their preparations for another high-stakes European night.
