Kerr plays at the top level in England and is vastly experienced in both the World Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Ochaka, on the other hand, is an upcoming teenage defender playing for Kenya Police Bullets in the local league.

She equally possesses World Cup experience, having featured in the 2024 finals, albeit for the U17 category.

Speaking to the press after Kenya’s match against India, where Starlets secured a 2-0 win through goals by Martha Amunyolete and Tereza Engesha, Ochaka says she is not intimidated by the contest awaiting her.

Personally, I do not fear her. She has two legs just like me,” said Ochaka.

The 17-year-old relishes the chance of facing established Australian players like Kerr, Arsenal striker Caitlin Foord and Alex Chidiac.

She says facing some of the best players in the world will help her and the rest of the team prepare for the 2026 WAFCON finals.

“It is a great opportunity to play these stars even as we prepare ourselves for WAFCON, where we will come up against top, talented players,” added Ochaka.

The highly-rated youngster also spoke of her progress from turning out for the U17 side Junior Starlets in the 2024 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, graduating to the Rising Starlets, and now to a dependable figure in the senior team.

The journey to the senior team has been amazing but difficult. It has demanded a lot of hard work, discipline, and the grace of God,” she remarked.

Ochaka will be hoping to make the cut for the 2026 WAFCON, which is set to take place from 25 July to 16 August in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Starlets will be in action against Australia on Wednesday from 5 pm, with the third-place playoff between Namibia and India kicking off at 2 pm.
