Wanyama says he could join Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates in the South African league.

Harambee Stars and CF Montreal midfielder Victor Wanyama says he is open to moving to South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) in the future.

The Harambee Stars captain has started the season well for his Canadian-based club and has already been elevated to the position of assistant captain at the Major Soccer League side.

Wanyama who had a short stint with AFC Leopards before moving to Europe in 2007 says the idea of playing in South Africa has crossed his mind. He says he could join Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, or Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Maybe in the future one day I would love to have that experience [of playing in Africa], I like all the top teams in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and of course Mamelodi Sundowns," he told Kick Off Magazine.

The 29-year-old further admitted that he was a Sundowns supporter when he was younger and loves watching Sundowns legend Surprise Moriri.

"I supported them when I was young watching Surprise Moriri and all of those guys, it was nice to watch how they play. I would say I do support them now because my Kenyan companion [Brian] Onyango is there and my friend, the Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango, that's why I always watch their games and support them fully,” he added.

He added that the brand of football played in South Africa is attractive to him.

"These teams I have mentioned [I would play for], Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates - they play really nice football to watch,” he continued.

Brian Onyango and Teddy Akumu are currently the only Kenyans playing in the PSL with the latter turning out for Kaizer Chiefs.
