Undoing Amorim's mess: Portuguese wiped out all wingers, United scrambles to find new ones

The Red Devils got rid of almost all of their wide player because the former boss didn't need them, and apparently made a big mistake
It's common for a club to go through some tectonic changes when one manager leaves, and another arrives. However, the situation at Manchester United may be unprecedented.
The Red Devils have always been known for their fantastic wingers, who were often the team's key players. Nevertheless, for the first time in a while, one of their head coach didn't want them. In Ruben Amorim's tactic, wide players were redundant, and the club slowly but surely got rid of almost all of them.
Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford have all left the club during the Portuguese's stint on the bench. Yet his strategy didn't pay off. He was sacked, and United are now suffering the consequences, as Amad Diallo remains the only genuine winger at Michael Carrick's disposal.
The 44-year-old has been using the full-back Patrick Dorgu in this position, but the Dane is currently sidelined, and, despite what the strategist claimed, Matheus Cunha is much more lethal when playing behind the striker than on the flank.
Hence, the Red Devils need to bolster their squad with a few high-quality wingers as early as the June Transfer Window, especially if Carrick stays on their bench, and after six wins and a draw in his first seven games in the dugout, there's a consensus among the club's fans that he should be given trust and hired permanently.

Reds, who would you rather sign — Diomande or Gordon? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/gMrgsnxVGf
The ship called Antoine Semenyo has sailed to the neighbouring Etihad Stadium, so the remaining targets, according to the BBC, are Anthony Gordon of Newcastle and Red Bull Leipzig's Yan Diomande, though United aren't the team keen on the two.
Still, until June comes, Carrick will have to make do with what he has, and the new challenge awaits his crew as early as tonight, when they face the Magpies at St James' Park (23.15).
It will be a chance for the tactician to extend his unbeaten run, as well as further assess the qualities of Gordon, the potential target.
