The military outfit has kept a clean sheet in all three league matches so far: a 1-0 victory over Murang’a Seal on the opening day and barren draws against Karionangi Sharks and defending champions Kenya Police FC.

This record is much better than last season, when they had no clean sheets in their opening three matches and could muster only nine at the end of the campaign.

The reliable shot stopper disclosed the reason behind his improved performances and also opened up on his season targets.

Last season, we kept nine clean sheets, and we have been working as a team to improve that as we are targeting the Golden Glove this season.

We had an averagely young backline last season, which had not played together, and I feel that we have gelled and covered each other's weaknesses this season, which in turn makes it easy to get clean sheets,” he added.

To win the Golden Glove, Ricks will be keen to learn from his two goalkeeper trainers, legendary Harambee Stars custodian Francis Onyiso and James Saruni.

The latter is the last custodian from the military outfit to win the award, which came in the 2021/22 season, after keeping 12 clean sheets.

Apart from the Golden Glove, Ricks also explained why he believes the team is ripe to go for the league title.

“The coach addressed our last season’s weak points by recruiting new players, and we are now ready to challenge for the title,” he stated.

The 21-year-old, who joined the 2010 league champions from GDC FC, also explained why their goalless draw against Kenya FC Police was a point gained rather than two points lost.

“We came for a win because we want to win the title this season, but it was not meant to be. However, we also decided to ensure we do not lose the game if we cannot win it,” he concluded.
