Tusker Creative midfielder Joseph Mwangi has expressed satisfaction after scoring his maiden goal for the Brewers since joining the club from Nzoia Sugar during the off-season transfer window.
The playmaker had admitted to being under pressure to replicate his Nzoia form that had him net fourteen times further, creating seven goals to earn a move to Ruaraka and on Saturday he was on the score sheet as Robert Matano’s charges dispatched Nairobi City Stars 3-1 to bounce back to winning ways.
Speaking to the club media team, Mwangi was happy to shove off pressure from his shoulders, noting that he had been working hard in the last ten league games to have his maiden strike in the famous yellow colors.
“I am happy because it is something I have been fighting for the last ten games. I am glad it has finally come to pass,” an elated Mwangi told the Tusker media team.
“It has haunted me for a long time, especially when you are in good form and people question you, but I gave myself hope and strived towards achieving it,” added Mwangi, who was one of the most sought-after players last season with record Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, and a host of other clubs vying for his signature.
"I dedicate this to my family—my wife and my son. They have been really supportive of me during this time," he added
The midfielder is also optimistic that the club’s win over the weekend was a morale booster for the brewers, who have had a slow start to the season, and believes it signifies their trajectory to rise this term.
“As a team, this is good because we have been training; the win gave us morale, and we will continue on the same trajectory,” he concluded.
