The win took Robert Matano's side to tenth on the log

Tusker FC midfielder Mike Oduor believes Tusker’s win on Saturday against Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos was one to signify that they had turned over a new page, and that those sort of performances were what fans should expect.

The former KCB man was among the goal scorers in the convincing 3-1 victory, repaying the manager’s trust to bring him on as part of the day’s six changes, by guiding a second minute glancing header past Elvis Ochoro.

Other returnees to the side - David Odoyo and Joseph Mwangi - each scored in the 19th and 43rd minute respectively to give Tusker a 3-0 lead, before Brian Bwire turned the ball in his own net in what was a consolation for City Stars in the second half.

“Very important win for us,” Oduor told the club media after the game. “Felt like we’ve turned a new page.”

Having endured a poor start to the season, Oduor spoke of a ‘team meeting’ in between the week that saw all efforts by the players directed towards turning their form.

“The agenda was for us to work as a team and more so ensure that we fight for the three points,” he said. “Make sure that we return back to where we need to be.”

Asked about the motivation that existed, given that they had lost four of their five fixtures heading to the Saturday game, Oduor said: “That support from the technical bench and the office. They do everything right for us and it was our turn to replicate and put something on the table.”

With the league taking a break for the international fixtures, Tusker return back to action on 25 November against Bidco United.

For the moment, Oduor’s message couldn’t have been any simpler.

“We urge our fans to rally behind us in this new journey. There is no going back. Just wins, wins and more wins.”
