Gacheru, in an exclusive interview, with Mozzart Sport after the match disclosed the millions the players will walk home with.
“We had promised the players Ksh 2 million if they win the Mozzart Bet Cup and so it is a promise we will have to fulfill,” said Gacheru
The club boss went ahead to clarify the source of the millions that will see players smile all the way to the bank.
“It is not always the norm that players get a portion of the prize money and that is not what we intend to do. That was just a motivation from the parent company and is separate from the Prize money which is meant to help the club to carry out its activities ,” he added.
For winning the Cup, Tusker will receive Ksh3 million courtesy of leading gaming firm, Mozzart Bet Kenya Limited.
The amount is an increase of Ksh1 million from what was 2025 winners Nairobi United earned.
Tusker’s win brought an end to a 10-year drought in the Cup and marked their return to continental football since 2021,when they played in the CAF Champions League, a matter that prides Gacheru.
“We are a big team and it was quite a disappointment that we had missed out on continental football for a while. After a disappointing season in the league, we have redeemed ourselves with the Cup and a gearing up for the CAF Confederation Cup,” he remarked.
Tusker will represent the country in CAF matches, next season, alongside Gor Mahia.
K'Ogalo won the league title.
