The Brewers are chasing their first domestic cup title in 10 years and will face Kenya Police FC, who won the 2024 edition, and are eager to bounce back after missing out on the league title, which was claimed by Gor Mahia.

Tusker reached the final after eliminating KCB on penalties in the semi-finals, while Police booked their place following a goalless draw and subsequent victory over Bandari FC in a similar shootout.

The winner of the final will qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup and walk away with Ksh 3 million in prize money. The runners-up will earn Ksh 2 million, third place will receive Ksh 1.5 million, while fourth place will take home Ksh 1 million. Before the final, Bandari and Kenya Police FC will contest a third-place playoff.

Momanyi said Tusker are motivated by the chance to end the season with silverware after a disappointing league campaign that saw them finish ninth.

“This will be a very tough game. We are facing a good side with good players and a good coaching team. We know they are determined to win, and equally, or probably even more, we want to win it as well. Whoever wants it more will win it and I believe we want it so much. I have seen how we are in training; the focus, the determination and the hunger from the players,” he said.

He added that the final presents an opportunity for the team to redeem an otherwise difficult season.

“This is a good chance for us to make amends for the season we have had,” he said.

Reflecting on Tusker’s league performance, the captain admitted the team fell short of expectations.

“This is my fifth season at Tusker FC and we have never finished in the position we did. We are all disappointed, but there are plenty of lessons to learn and hopefully we can improve next season,” he noted.

Momanyi urged his teammates to rise to the occasion in Kwale, with continental qualification also on the line, emphasizing the importance of securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup as a key step in the players’ development.
