The Portuguese has signed a three year contract

History is repeating itself, but this time with the feeling of an all-out battle to save a football empire. What seemed like science fiction or the desperate wish of nostalgic supporters just six weeks ago has now become an official reality. Real Madrid's board of directors, under the iron leadership of president Florentino Perez, has officially confirmed it: Jose Mourinho is the club's new head coach.

In an official statement released just 30 minutes before the start of the World Cup—hardly a coincidence—the club announced that the Portuguese manager has signed a three-year contract, running until June 30, 2029. Perez has once again turned to his most powerful, but also most dangerous, nuclear option. When the kingdom is ‘burning’ and the foundations of the Santiago Bernabeu are shaking under the weight of chaos and crisis, the president does not choose diplomacy. This appointment is far more than a routine managerial change. Mourinho could end the crisis or make things even worse.

At a time when the dressing room appears fractured and the team seems to be lacking its traditional competitive edge, Perez has turned away from modern football trends and returned to the philosophy of absolute authority. Mourinho is not returning to be popular; he is returning to finish an unfinished war and impose military-like discipline where glamour once ruled. The president and his new manager have already identified the key dates. Mourinho will officially take charge on July 13, 2026, the first day of preseason training. That date is expected to mark the beginning of a major clear-out and reconstruction that many in Madrid believe has been overdue. The football world is already speculating about which players will survive Mourinho's ruthless standards and whose days in the famous white shirt are numbered. The king of chaos has returned home, either to save the kingdom or to burn it to the ground in pursuit of glory.
