After only five months in charge, Argentine might leave the French capital
Real Madrid and Tottenham are rubbing their hands after they heard what Mauricio Pochettino allegedly said to his current employers. After less than half of a year in the dugouts of Parc de princes - Poch would like to leave PSG.
Even though the Argentine still has a year remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 giants, he has been linked with both his former club Tottenham and Los Blancos of Madrid.
According to Goal - Leonardo, PSG's sporting director, will decide how is best to move forwards.
Despite his team's failure to defend their Ligue 1 crown this season, PSG had planned to keep working with the Argentine.
Pochettino's contract was due to run until the summer of 2022 - regardless, he has reportedly asked to terminate it.
Poch guided PSG to winning in the Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.
Whatever the outcome might be, Pochettino will reportedly respect the decision the club make regarding his future and if he is asked to do so - he will finish out this contract.
Poch could either return to the Premier League or try himself out in LaLiga, should he be granted the opportunity to leave in the upcoming transfer window.
Zinedine Zidane left the Bernabeu for the second time after seeing his side knocked out of the Champions League by Chelsea and finishing second behind Atletico Madrid in LaLiga - and Pochettino has been named as the favourite to replace the Frenchman.
Another name Los Blancos were interested in was former Juventus boss Maximiliano Allegri but the Old Lady of Turin acted quickly as Allegri will return to Allianz Stadium and replace Andrea Pirlo after a disappointing season.
Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel in Paris at the start of the year and now the executives of the Madrid powerhouse have turned their attention to the Argentine.
Tottenham have also been linked with returning the 49-year-old to the new White Hart Lane - Spurs had their worst season in 12 years as they were left without a manager and are frighteningly close to losing their main man Harry Kane.
Alleged negotiations are due to start next week and if he does go back to the club - the former boss will do whatever he can to convince the star striker Kane to stay for at least one more year.
Pochettino's spell in North London from 2014 to 2019 was largely successful however he was sacked in November while his side sat 14th in the Premier League.
It is understood that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is considering re-employing the Argentine after letting him go in what Levy even admitter was a mistake.
But - whatever the rumours or facts might be - the only valid fact at the moment is that Pochettino's future rests in the hands of Leonardo and the board of PSG.
