Something needs to change at Santiago Bernabeu if the Spanish giant wants to stabilize and dominate domestically and across Europe for a longer period of time.

Real Madrid are coachless since Zinedine Zidane left Los Blancos dug out for the second time. They are in search of someone who can carry the burden of this huge club and their expectations.

Apart from the search for the new coach, Madrid club will try and hire people behind the scenes, who will help the future manager by finding the right signings in the right time for the right price.

And because of that, Real Madrid will try and recruit the highly-respected sporting director Luis Campos, the architect of this year's success of French champions Lille and the great generations of Monaco few years ago.

That connection between Campos and Monaco is what Real rely on in their pursuit of signing Kylian Mbappe.

Monaco reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2017 and Campos was a part of that team's management and has since remained close with the young France striker.

For some time Real have been linked with a move for Mbappe, now at Paris Saint-Germain. La Liga runner ups look to restore themselves to the pinnacle of European football and they are looking for young talented superstars to start the new 'Galacticos' project.

Goal report that, for at least two months now, discussions have been ongoing between the club and Campos, who worked in a scouting and tactical analyst role for them under Jose Mourinho. Further talks are expected next week as Real restructure positions behind the scenes.

Zidane ended up trophyless this season opposed to winning three consecutive Champions League successes during his first spell at the Bernabeu.

The 56-year-old Portuguese Campos has long-standing links to Real Madrid's board of executives. Going back to Mourinho's time in charge a decade ago - Campos has been in contact with president Florentino Perez and general director Jose Angel Sanchez since then.

He established his reputation as Monaco's sporting director between 2013 and 2016 after leaving Madrid.

Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez, Anthony Martial and Fabinho are just some of the players who all moved for big money transfer fees.

From south of France to the far north - Campos moved on to become Lille's football director and his work there has just culminated in them winning the Ligue 1 title against the giants from Paris.

Campos has already been briefed on Real's long-term plan, reports suggest, and his close links with Mbappe will be a huge factor in the wanted scenario.
