Less than two years after he was sacked, the Argentine is on the verge of returning to the Spurs dugout
Boom!
Yes, his face is revealed - Mauricio Pochettino (©Justin Setterfield/Getty Images) Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of returning to Tottenham after less than six months in charge with Paris Saint-Germain, the British media reported on Thursday morning.
The Argentine was appointed at the Parc des Princes in January, signing a contract until June 2022, with the option for an extra year, after being sacked by Spurs in November 2019.
He was replaced at Tottenham by Jose Mourinho, who led the club to a sixth-placed finish before being also sacked in April 2021.
Pochettino led PSG to French Super Cup, and Coupe de France wins but failed to deliver the Ligue 1 title, missing out to Lille by a point.
They reached the semi-finals of the Champions League after victories over holders Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the knockout stages but missed out on a second consecutive final after losing to Manchester City in the last four.
"It was an amazing journey with Tottenham that finished the way no one wanted it to finish," Pochettino told BT Sport in April 2020. "But deep in my heart, I am sure our paths will cross again.
"From the day I left the club, my dream is to be back one day and to try to finish the work we didn't finish."
