The Palmeiras' wonderkid would have to rethink his life choices should the Madrid club splash the cash to sign him
Over the years, the ongoing rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona has extended to pursuing young talents emerging from Brazilian footballing circles. This competitive tussle for promising players has seen battles for the signatures of Neymar, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes, and, more recently, Endrick. Now, it seems another El Clasico showdown is on the horizon for the potential acquisition of another Brazilian rising star, Estevao Messinho Willian.
Real Madrid is currently keeping a watchful eye on Estevao. According to journalist Jorge C Picon, the club is closely monitoring the development and progress of the Palmeiras 16-year-old wonderkid.

The teenage attacking midfielder has been in impressive form at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, leading Brazil to the quarter-finals with three goals and three assists to his name. At his club, Estevao is drawing comparisons to Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and has earned the nickname Messinho due to similarities in their style of play. The boy has been on the radar of some of the big European clubs for some time, but Los Blancos currently look like leading the race for Messinho's signature.
The youngster is following the footsteps of Endrick, who emerged at Palmeiras and is set to join Real Madrid. Reports suggest that Real Madrid's chief scout, Juni Calafat, already involved in two other operations to sign Brazilian players, has known Estevao for several years and holds positive reports about him. Given Estevao's $65 million release clause in his Brazilian contract, should he continue on his current trajectory, Real Madrid is open to investing in his talent, similar to the tested strategy in signing Endrick.
Despite Real Madrid's keen interest, there might be a hurdle as the teenager appears inclined towards Barcelona. In a recent interview, the 16-year-old openly expressed his dream of playing for the Blaugrana, admitting his close affinity for the club when discussing his biggest aspiration.
"To play for Barcelona, which is one of the best clubs in the world. I was born watching Neymar, Messi, and Suárez play for Barcelona, and that's the dream I have. I watch almost every Barça match. I'm a fan of the club. I greatly admire the players who play there and hope to be there too."
